Expanding

With each and every passing day
The galaxies drift farther away
And though their light for millenis shines
Its journey lengthens all the time

Impendingly it seems to me
We're running out of time to see
The shift in mind it might provide
To see our world from the outside

Would Earthly woes seem petty and small?
Or would their importance be felt all the more?
But fearful I am we'll never know
As we gaze so far but with minds so closed

Therefore I feel I must implore
That we not allow this anymore
Let us head for the stars to clutch them in our hands
For no prize but them is quite as grand.
